Rear Axle Mudshield's Yes or No

Hi guys

As i am about to swap my disco 300tdi rear axle over onto my def 2.5td ( 200tdi ) i was wondering if its worth fitting axle mud shield's as i intend doing some mild off roading but you tend to see lots of off road def's without them fitted.

what do you think

I'm not fitting them to mine for my rebuild though I am leaving the brackets in place. I don't fancy paying nearly £60 each for front mud sheilds but the brackets will be there just in case

do a better job of keeping the mud in than out.

every vehicle ive had with them on - has required them removing due to rot. some would replace them but i view them like exhaust heat shields - if they were really required they should have been fitted better

I'm putting mine back on, mostly because they are surprisingly in nice condition and must have been there for a reason

they are to protect brake but anyone whose done enough work on lrs finds the mudsheild side is usually the worst side

Cheer's guys for the advise and i have decided to leave them off as I think it would look better anyway
