Anyone made a rear awning for a landy ? recently found when breaking camp everything got soaked when trying to pack the boot.

I have a home made side awning just after any ideas for a rear one

thanx for the replies - dont really like the foxwing tbh and I cant that sort of money tbh

I have a homemade side awning already

was thinking of fastening 2 slide out poles under the rack at the back then slide them out and slide on some HD MOD tarpaulin over the poles

keep up the ideas

You could get an Autohaven 4x4 tent as these allow you to reverse the vehicle inside the tent or leave it free standing. I have one and they are brilliant.

Jusy making one myself as follows:

1) This 3m x 3m tarp is great value at £19.99:

Decathlon - camping-trek,outdoor products tents shelter QUECHUA - TARP, khaki QUECHUA - hikers looking for a shelter or wanting to extend a tent.#

2) It can be free standing i.e. 4x4 can be driven away leaving it erect with the addition of 2 more poles; or

3) Can be attached to roof rack by:

- sewing a length of skirt piping like this:

Caravan Awning Skirt Piping - Caravanstuff4u

down one side.

- and then buying a length of aluminium skirting channel and fixing it to the rack with these:

ive made a roll out canvas one on the near side too.
Im making my rear out of normal green tarp, jubilee clipped to my rack (tubular type).when rolled up I keep it in place with rubber tree stake ties from b&q. I was goin to have extendable pole sliding out the back of the rack but looks unstable! so im using 2 extendable tent pole uprights as with my side awning & guy roping them. Bit more of an effort to put up but for £40 who's complaining?!!
