Hi all , just thought I would share how easy it is to replace your rear air springs on a D2 . And I'm no mechanic !in fact my wife says I'm the biggest spanner in my tool box. So read up on all the treads I could find ,then set to it today at noon and was all cleaned away at 2:15pm . And now working so much better than it was . All I used was a 10mm spanner flat blade screwdriver long nose pliers ' and a knife.oh and the wife's tooth brush ;-) and our house vacuum to clean off all the mud from the top of old air springs before removing them .
The only unforeseen thing I found ,was that as my D2 has the rear air-con . Landrover run the lagged pipes over the top of the near side air spring ,so I just used a small block of wood to wedge between the top of the air spring mount and chassis to hold them up out the way while I undid the air line .
I also only undid the airlines from the springs and I left the air compressor well alone . I simpley lossened them both one turn then had a cuppa while they went flat
After that it was very straight forward to take out old ,pop in new, cut old pipe ends off ,and just push fit back in the new air spring . Pump back up at small intervals check all was right ,
It's lifts into off road setting now so much faster and feels so much better on the road .so if your putting it off doing . Don't its real easy job :)
