My Disco 2 ES does not have the rear Aircon buttons in the roof can this sort of thing be retro fitted by purchasing the appropiate head lining etc?

my 2001 Td5 ES did not have the rear aircon as standard but the first owner had it fitted by landrover as an optional extra - don't know how easy it would be for you to fit or if you could buy the parts - prob a main dealer job & I'm sure they'd charge a fortune.

Its not just the headlining - there is a seperate compressor unit in the boot that runs the rear passenger & boot vents (located behind nearside rear panel & vents run up side pillar & along roof)

Hope this info is of some use

just looked on the rave cd - rear unit has to be connected with pipes to the front aircon as well (see attached images)

looks a pretty pricey job to do - just glad mine was done at someone elses expense - but it is great if you have it - recently drove round Wales with 2 kids in back & 2 dogs in boot in hot weather & the rear aircon kept them all cool

You lost all credability by using Wales an Hot in the same sentence

's true honest - 2 weeks ago was about 28c , even got fookin sunburnt - had to wear the same t-shirt & shorts for 10 days cus we took mostly woolies & wellies - even got pics to prove it - see blue sky , not raining

Looks like a big job, also looks like it sits where seats 6 & 7 goes?

no, the whole unit is hidden behind the nearside trim panel in the boot - I only know because I had to remove the panel to fit my rear dog guard (the bolts for one of the fittings would have gone right through the duct) and I thought 'what the hell is all this behind here ?' . until then I though the rear aircon was just some roof vents extended from the front sytem, but it's not it's a seperate unit.

the 2 rear seats still fit and fold out as normal (but I removed mine to make more room for 2 large german shepherds)

Isn't the panel on the n/s deeper when air con's fitted? Does this move the 6th seat further into the centre of the car?

Just curious....

Don't know - the seat still folds down & fits into the slots on the floor - which, i presume , are in the same place. the rebate for the seat on the n/s is definately narrower than the o/s though.

As i said, I removed the 6th & 7th seats to make more room - wasn't looking for a 7 seater when I bought it - the best one I saw just happened to have 7 seats. I have been looking for a pair of storage bins to put in place of the seats but haven't managed to fing any yet,
