Ever since I have had my Disco I have been slightly disappointed by the level of clickety click noise in the cabin. Sounds like tappets and has been checked by my mechanic as normal. Engine sounds fine when bonnet is up and I'm outside the car but once driving it does sound tappety.
Have lived with it for 9 months so thought it was just the noise they make, then the other day I spotted a rear acoustic engine cover on sale on ebay. Got me wondering if I have one on mine. Low and behold had a look today and it isn't there! Feeling round the back of the head there are 2 bolts with rubber grommets on but no cover. Have now bought the one off ebay and look forward to fitting it when it arrives. While I had the main acoustic cover off I noticed the front camshaft seal is loose and a spot of oil weeping around the rocker cover seal so those will be fixed at the same time.
I would be interested to hear if any one has any experience of rear acoustic engine cover on/off as to whether it makes much difference to the in cabin sound?
Cheers Stu.

I haven't got one and mine is loud! Although it has no carpets in at the moment either, and the exhaust is just a straight through pipe.

I'll be interested in your findings on this, as I need to reduce noise in my cabin too.

Humm, I'd be interested too as I too have that slightly tappety sound in mine. Thought it was the blower motor but turned that off and still there!

I figure the rear cover was designed and fitted for a reason so might as well put one back on, it only cost a tenner so no big deal either way.

Happy to report the cover makes a big improvement. Driving the Disco is now much more relaxing.
Bit of a struggle to fit but I am we'll pleased with the result.
