Hello Chaps and Chapesses.
We have a Series Three Diesel (1984, 2.25, 5 mb)
Does anyone have an informed opinion regarding retorquing cylinder head bolts. I used to do this on all my old triumphs and morris,s but have never seen anything regarding this to do with Landies.
Had a recent major head gasket failure following on from skimmed head, etc. The gasket was a Britpart one and did fail in spectacular form leading to about 15 gallons of blackish/ greyish jelly being formed inside the engine. (Where did it all come from!!!!!!)
Stripped it down fully, cleaned it and used an Elring gasket. Didnt use new bolts, never have!
Its now done about 200 miles on the new head gasket and am wondering if its worthwhile retorquing the head or am I just tempting fate?
Cheers
Alec
