Re-Discovery

Plus got the bush extractor kit, fantastic bit of kit and was very easy when I changed suspension bushes in the hub knuckle , bought complete wishbones as I didn’t have a press as I felt it wasn’t worth messing around

16mm Irwin extractor on a rounded 15mm head works for future ref :D

2 bolts down now though, so built nearside back up. Torque wrench only goes to 204nm I need 230nm for hub nut and 275nm for caliper carrier to hub. Ive torqued up to 204nm on those fixings and give it a bit more with the bar.

Couple of bolts tomorrow from craddocks or JL services and hubs should be done by teatime. Can't wait to drive it again I'm missing it.

I can do nuts and bolts in the wet if I must but I can't weld in the rain and wind :(

I will be hunting me down some Irwin extractors for future use ;)

Them bolts need some serious torque on them don't they :eek:

They're good to have around mate, ****ed off i need 2 bolts to finish it, just want to drive it now :(
 
@1988smithy , good job.

I will be honest and had not heard of the Irwin things till a few months ago, on here.
And as DD I will be looking out for them to add to the tool box “I really needs these:)” justification done:).

Cheers mate, bit of patience and a lot of plusgas helped!:D I've got 2 sets now, an erbauer and the Irwin and they've come in useful about half a dozen times over 3 years so definitely needed :rolleyes::p

I was going to use heat but don't like doing that with steering/suspension

Happy days and hats off to u mate , irwins to the rescue again, lol

I got a gazebo which I find comes in great use for those rainy days ;)

D3s do seem to get under ur skin , think it’s because there such a pleasure to drive u don’t mind working on them

Same with owners here , each have there own favourite

Aye up, the gaffers here! ;)

You know what I think it's already a strong contender for my favourite landy I've owned :D I really have missed it, drove it for 3 days then it's been laid up 3 but I'm gutted I've gotta wait a bit more! They are very nice. Pain in the arse to work on though, very little room to manoeuvre compared to the defender but to be expected :)

I've got room for a carport as it goes.....:rolleyes:

Same here , is my favourite landy so far, think also because it serves my needs the most , with my screwed up back can drop the suspension and is an ideal height to get in and out, extremely comfortable, steering is very light, plenty of room for candy, biggest surprise of how quiet it is down the motorway

Indeed can be a sod to work on but well worth it considering how they drive , was cursing it when I replaced the rear wishbones , but soon forgotten after it was finished

Sounds perfect having enough room for a carport , bet u will build that in the summer, ;)

I was 100% gutted when I had to hand mine back to the company when I got made redundant, it was an awesome tool in the quarries and the landfill site and made tramping up the A14 effortless.

Hi

Carport sounds perfect, totally jealous ;), always wanted a garage with a post lift , where all my tools could be set up in cabinets , nice to dream

Originally was carrying a boiler , twisted and smashed lower discs, L5-4-3-2 , so had pins and screws put it, over Xmas and new year i attempted to do work on the D3 , then tried to change my ATF oil, back locked, emergency surgery they used some surgical cement to resecure the pins that had moved , got to rest for several months more to allow it to stabilise and the nerves to heal, some have been damaged from surgery but the nerves still fire which causes the excruciating pain, plus weak left leg which is permanent , just got to give it time so virtually housebound , good days and bad days at the moment still got to do my oils , bless u for asking but could have been worse , escaped a wheel chair this time

X-ray , plus pins and screws that are in my back

As they say got to do the job properly and certainally did with my back , lol , just climbing the wall with boredom but know ur right just got to leave the disco alone for now

How’s the disco going , what u got left to do

Going well, jl services have got hub bolts in stock so plan is pick a couple up on way home and get some 8mm fuel line for the gearbox breather. Sort it out tonight then it's just the intercooler bottom hose and tailgate at my leisure. Then enjoy it and not worry about it going wrong until it does :)
