Lost and freezing to death would make one both 'a minority' and
'disadvantaged' you would think....

Who mentioned that national lottery? Read what I wrote "a national
support charity", ie a national organisation that raises funds to
distribute amongst all the many individual MR teams.

If you are referring to COMRU in the Lakes they are part of the MR circles,
as is some Cave Rescue Teams. I don't know of any other voluntary mines
rescue teams except COMRU.

Names again. The Mendips have an underground rescue team but I guess
they call themselves Cave Rescue rather than Mines as the holes are
natural rather than man made. Up here the holes are mostly man made,
so we have a Mines Rescue...

Funny you should say that - I have a submission in with the Lottery at
the moment making just that point - I'm not holding my breath though.

Scuba Diving dragged me into Land Rover ownership so I have a lot
of respect for these guys. They often put to sea when us mere mortals
are roping down our roof tiles and wondering where our garden trees
will be in the morning.
