Good day all!

I purchased my Land Rover Defender 90 just over a year ago, i have tried tracing all history but nowadays its not as easy due to the data protection bla bla bla! I am hoping that a kind Land Rover enthusiast can help?

At present my V5 states my Land Rover is a 90 300 TDi however i done a HPi and its on the v register but it also says it was a 7 speed Auto Petrol in red when it was new>??? Is there such a beast or what, any help would be much appreciated cheers

Thats what i thought 7 speed? it must be a mistake on the HPi report, i know it was stolen when it was just a year old but dont get the 7 speed petrol spec??

wasnt that the 7 speed prototype v8 they made a few years ago. it must be correct cos the dvla have it on their database

my missus has a polo, but when she took it for mot the new ticket had passat wrote on it. she phoned the dot to comment and they tried to tell her that her car was a passat and it was right because thats what it said on their database, fookin clowns. she took the cert back to the garage and the guy put it right for her in about ten minutes

The only sure way to tell what it was when new is by decoding the VIN.

This is an easy way to do it: Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands

Just put your VIN in and it will tell you.

Things like the V5 are fallable - my Camel Freelander's V5 used to state it was a 90!

Cheers
