rapid clicking sound when turning engine on

Just sort of following up on this thread linked below.

I changed the battery to a new one, which to be fair was needed anyway as there was some leakage. However, while the power returned there is a rapid clicking sound coming from the engine and the car will not start. I seem to have located where the neutral cable from the battery is bolted to the engine, that seems good. - any ideas for a very limited knowledge guy
