in the morning when i start my range rover td6 03 auto the gear doesn't seem to grip i rev it in D and the car doesn't move for about 10-15 second but is then fine the rest of the day . any ideas why ? just cold or somthin wrong ?:)

a)
Dont rev when cold
b)
You must be in a hurry if you need it to drive off in 15 seconds. Has it got something to do with banks and lots of money?-)

I take it,it is a diesel ?

We are constantly having to repair the diesel boxes with issues like lack of drive, one customer had no issues with his vehicle, one day came to a stop at red traffic lights, when they turned green the RR wouldn't move !

This seems to be mainly with the diesels as they use a different box to the petrols.

yes how long should i warm it up for ? its deisel what will i do ? i'm always in a hurry phil self employed time is money lol my steering wheel also squeeks when going back in when i take key out of ignition ? ive greased it but still squeeks any ideas ? cheers guys

I should find a local auto gearbox specialist if you can & get them to look at it asap, the loss of drive normally means gearbox overhaul & can cost between £1500 - £2000 !!

Can also mean its low on oil get that checked first, it shouldn't need warming up, and there should be noticable difference between hot and cold. Could also be the filter/strainer in box getting blocked restricting flow when the oil is a little thicker when it's cold.

Yep, meant the engine revving. The gearbox should not care at all. (I dont start within 30secs anyway, by then the pistons are warm)
oldskool is right, check the oil level. Had it in my Merc a few years ago. Turned out faulty electronics anyway though, shame it had to go.

Queaking steering wheel? I wouldnt hear mine if I wanted to, but mine's a series then... But anyway, try gun oil. If there's no grease normally, it won't break anything. If there is grease, well, there is no such thing as too much grease;)

How about one of the mods move it to the rangies then?

Might get an answer there, as I've got no clue and no software to look it up on this pc.

Cheers
