Gidday,
I currently run a P38 diesel and have had a great run, (touch wood), but i now have an option of a 2007 V8 diesel Range rover with a blown (possibly hydraulicked) motor. Should i buy it?
Are they a good bus? do they give lots of trouble? are the motors a costly overhaul? The engine is locked up and it was low on oil and blowing white smoke. If i get it for the right price any ideas on the cost of a new motor, or reconditioning costs. Is it a BMW Engine or what.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Question of it all being worth it depends on the asking price, because I'm almost certain a repair or replacement engine won't come cheap....

Stick with the p38, the newer ones are a hole new world of pain, unless its a give away would probably be cheaper to drop another lump in it.

Chance of finding a 2nd hand motor for this in NZ is pretty unlikely unless i could find one in a different type of vehicle.
Are they fitted to anything else? I am a mechanic so quite happy to pull and dismantle engine myself but parts over here are mega dollars so could possibly source parts from UK if they are a reasonable price.
