I just bought some 20" range rover sport alloys for my 1999 p38 range rover. I got the spigot rings etc to fit these, and they are fitted with 295/40/20 tyres. However the tyres are actually sticking out about an inch away from being inline with the wheel arch, i've made search's on the net and some people have said that this should be ok for an mot, anyone had this problem or know if it will be ok for for mot?

MOT is hit and miss, depends on the tester, but in reality, the tester is supposed to check road worthyness and not type approval.

Wheels poking out of the arches are illegal. may pass mot but plod will pull you.

I don't know what your budget runs to but I was quoted £1100 yesterday by a local bodyshop to make me some aluminium extensions that are welded and formed onto the existing arches. The price included repainting the wings. I suppose the cost of labour involved and the time in making the arches look right it is probably not expensive. Like I said it depends on your budget, this may not be a lot of money to you but it solves your problem. They have just done wheel arches on an ML Merc and it looks awesome, just like custom made wings.

Has anybody fitted 19" wheels from the current shape Range Rover onto the previous model, I have 2001 model and am thinking of treating myself to some new wheels? The ones I have seen are fitted with 255/50/19 tyres so I am hoping that they won't stick out like the 20s' that Danrange4 has tried fitting. Do post a picture if you have some fitted, I would like to see how they look!

Sure you will be ok mate with 255 tyres, the 295's only stick out slightly
