Hi all.

Got my car back from the garage and they suspect the rocker cover has a small crack in it on the drivers side causing my car to go into limp mode when excellerating. The garage has quoted over £500 for the part. Can anybody give me the part number for this and recommend a cheaper alternative?

Thanks

Jaime

The rocker cover is also the inlet manifold, it is made in two parts and glued together. when they fail it is usually the glued seam that has failed which results in a boost leak.

The V6 is the same, infact we change more V6 rocker covers than TDV8's.
My 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 (still under Approved Used Land Rover Warranty) is with my LR local dealer after going into limp home mode at the weekend. They have indicated a cracked rocker cover and I'm awaiting them confirming they will complete the work under warranty. Car has only done 90k and has a full dealer service history, is this a known fault? Anyone know what causes it? I believe this engine is a Ford engine correct?

A few years ago, Mercedes designed a range of industrial engines like these, when the rocker gasket failed, they blew up, we changed several engines as did the rest of their end users.
