Does the Buick not have it's own chassis number?...I follow quite a few American builds on youtube where they swop chassis but it depends on which state your in...also Urchfab in UK put a Ford 100E on an MX5 floorpan but it was the Ford reg that was retained...I assume youve checked the regs involved...was the Buick registered for UK roads?...

That Ford was probably illegally registered and not road legal. Sadly it is rife I with some moders in the U.K.

You can’t use a 2nd hand chassis or build one car out of two. And any cutting or welding of a Unibody/monocoque chassis such as the MX-5 would be an instant IVA and Q plate.

For the op. They could probably keep it as an RRS with just a body swap. But it would have no classic car status and would be subject to road tax and an MoT.

Not sure if he ever used it on the road thinking about it just a track car was a while ago...How do you chassis stamp/vin plate the body?...

The body doesn't need a VIN number stamped on it, it only needs to be on the chassis and yes it will need to be MOTed and taxed

You just get the body changed on log book to suit;)

are you going through the Sva/Iva rules ?
(Soon as you start changing the chassis with brackets etc you need inspection)

How come the body doesnt need a number every other body on chassis does from LR...
Anything with a chassis has the number for the chassis not body.(you could re body your motor with no problems)

Think monocoque motors have numbers for the body(free landers)

But it still has a plate attatched to body does it not...all mine have and modern have 2 plates...

Yes the bodies do have ID plates but are for reference only.

Yes but thats the old question/debate all 3 must match V5/vin plate/stamped chassis but new or repaired chassis wont have a number so other 2 are/could be debatable...a body from another manufacturer on an LR chassis with no number stamped on chassis could be a nightmare as vin plate and V5 are meaningless...
I'm not refering to what OP is doing as he's done his homework it would seem in checking regs for what he is building...
