Hi folks.. I have a Rangie 1996 4.6 LPG, Auto, I heard that Range Rover P38 from 1999 to 2002 have TC on front and rear diff. Can i make my Rangie with TC on both diff like the 2001 or 2002??? And how???:D

You can't without going to a great deal of trouble. TC is to do with ABS nothing to do with diffs.

Except if you went to the considerable trouble of upgrading your braking system to four wheel TC and then used it in anger - you'd probably break your front diff - as the 4 way TC P38s had four-pin front and rear diffs. Older spec P38s only had a two pin front diff and a four pin on the rear where TC was active.

Yep waste of time and energy. Not worth the trouble. The petrols have four pin diffs diesel has two pin front and rear, TC or not.

The TC is pretty much a wast of time in any case, it only operates for a very short time to avoid cooking the brakes.

True - it's not as good as locking diffs - but it'll largely prevent cross-axle situations which will stop most open-diff 4x4s dead in their tracks. Even if you have to stop for 5 minutes to let the TC cool to get out of a cross-axle situation - I'd rather that then having to get the winch out - assuming there's something to anchor to!

A bell went off in my head there - I remember reading somewhere that at some point latish in the P38's production run, LR stopped making the two pin diffs and all cars got the four pins as a matter of course. They ran down the two pin stocks by continuing to fit them to the front of diesels and 4.0's until they ran out. Of course the above may be a sign of an aneurysm rather than a real memory! :D

Maybe, but my 98 made 99 registered diesel has two pin front and rear. And rear only TC. Think things changed for petrols after MY99 when four wheel TC came in. A look at Microcat may throw some light on it. But can't be arsed to be honest. :D:D
