hi my p38 has a eas fault (like most) but it will rise fine first time then when its been running for about 5-10mins it comes up with eas fault and the rear air backs drop to below the bottom level anyone got any idea???:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I assume that she's dropping herself with an EAS fault message on your dash...

She'll drop to the bumps due to recording what is known as a Hard fault. You say that 'its' been running. Do you mean the Compressor pump or the vehicle?

I'd hazard a guess that your system is partly working as you say she rises. You may have an air leak that's causing air to be lost which will send the system into hard fault and drop you tot he Bumps.... or a height sensor out of sync of fooba which will also send into hard fault.

Do you have a lead ans EAS software? I bought mine off ebay. Have a look here. this was the kit I bought and found the instructions very usful. You also get a freebie (the free EAS software) already on a disk so you don't need to go hunting for it on the net.

hi thanks for the reply it does it when i start the car after about 5-10mins and yes i have the program off of ebay with the lead and ive cleared faults then its fine for another 5-10mins then does it again sometimes it comes up with one fault 'rl signal incorrect' but then other times comes up with loads of faults ifs thats give you any ideas and i dont really fancy going to LR to be ripped off

Hmm.. take this the right way but... are you following the EAS software instructions correctly with regards establishing coms with the ECU ok before reading faults?

a) Can you do a screen shot?

b) what are your height settings (Access, highway, std, high and ext) for each corner as per the software tab via Get values?

c) Clear the faults, then re plug in...set the vehicle at each height setting and check that the height your vehicle telling you makes sense to that of the stored programmed values (bottom of the EAS tab on that screen).

RL fault = rear left height sensor, remove & clean the connector as a starting point, clear the faults and try again. If it fails, post a complete list of the faults.
I suspect you have one or more leaking airbags and the pump is shutting down on temperature overheat as it trys to keep up with the air loss. The pump may also be shagged if it has been overworked for some time.

cheers for all that will read the instructions for the program and try again and i will clean the connections and take note of all the faults as for leaks the air bags are like new they was replaced about 2months before i bought the car and the air pump is supposingly new but not sure on that one cheers agains and i will let you no how i get one

hi checked all connections on height sensors but still the same comes up with rl signal incorrect so im thinking new sensor?????? the suspension will work for about 5mins goes to all heights fine then comes up with eas fault and reads rl signal incorrect anythink else i could try before replacing the sensor???????

Sounds like it is definately the sensor:D

I spent about 2 hours this morning re-setting all my heights - not sure if the heights are correct (they do not relate to other posts on here) but my list to port has gone and she rides a lot better. The lead was definatly worth the £18 ;-)

£18 for a lead? Crikey I should go into production at that price, the bits cost me less than £2.50 to make mine:D

You try and swap the sensors over on the same axel. I have not tried it myself but have read that it can be done. Someone on here will elaborate.....

only problem is the fly leads on the early sensors are fitted to them and cannot be swapped but the latter ones have a seperate lead which can be swapped as it just swapped the signal wires over or you will get neg valves on the heights

ive just put a newer style height sensor on with the lead and its still saying rl signal incorrect what did you mean when you said swap the signal wires over or you will get neg valves on the heights???????????????????

whatch the sensors in live time are they all mvoing together? are they increasing the heights and the reading going up does the faulty reading give a negative reading going up and a positive going down would sujjest the lead is wired up the wrong way swap the out two wires over

hi finally tryed swapping the wire on the height sensor still the same still comes up with rl signal incorrect ive read the heights (cant remember what there was at hand) but for example the right one will read 120 and the left one will read 55 any one got any idears of what it could be ??????? its really f**king me off now help please
