Range Rover P38 Diesel Lost power at the peddle?

Hi all,

Has anyone come across this problem? I have on a few occasions lost all power at the peddle? Engine ticks over OK but when you put your foot down to accelerate there is no power, and sometimes it just comes back, I can go a couple of weeks all being well and then it goes again?

Also I have another fault that seems to be also intermittent now? The heater glow light on the dash wont come on, and when this happen the glow plug don't work making start the car nearly impossible just wonder if anyone else has come across this problem.

I have been told with regards the accelerator it might be the actuator?

Any ideas of advice would be appreciated many thanks

All this could be down to a coolant temp sensor fault, the engine ecu will not operate the glows at a temp over 60c,and over about 115c it will seriously limit engine output to prevent damage.Over temp does not log a fault,(it would be useful if it did for warranty issues etc) but there could be coolant temp sensor faults if the ecu does not see a proper transition of temp as the engine warms up.
10 mins on Testbook is the answer.

its probably the injection pump, mine does it and the injector light comes on at the same time, if i accelerate in 5th sometimes then let off, when you go back to put your foot down it doesnt respond for up to 10 seconds sometimes, also stalls if i depress the clutch during this time.

I have a similar problem, the dealer's diagnostic check says it is a worn injector pump component. He suggests rebuilt pump at £1200. I am off to a Bosch specialist to get comment!
