I have a Range Rover classic 3.9V8 and will be changing the oil very soon, i wonder if any one can reccomend a particular make of oil to use, i believe it takes 15w40 but there are many makes, any one able to help?

15w40 is right 6.1 ltrs of with the filter.Get down to a decent motor factors/local parts dealer-dont go to halfrauds!

Hi,
I use any good oil brand and change regularly, draining only via plug and replace filter with a good brand.

As the V8 tends to blacken the oil quickly, I change mine every 5000miles-iy would be 3000 if I did short journeys. Valvoline 15-40 + a new filter is the order of the day. Don't use synthetetic.
Have a look on RPI's website for more info.-they are the V8 engine gurus

Nothing wrong with Halfords oil, it's made by Comma which are a reputable oil manufacture.

I use the Halfords 15w/40 diesel engine oil with high levels of zinc, ZDDP=1200ppm.
Very cheap when I used a trade card.
