I'm thinking of buying a petrol L322 range rover and going to see one on saturday. Is there anything in particular I need to look out for?? any help will be greatfully received.

One thing I know to look out for is the front diff, especially on early ones. Listen for a clicking noise, or worse knocking noise, coming from the front, in particular when the steering is turned.

If your budget extends to it, make sure you buy an L322 from 2004-onwards. Older 2002-2003 models have a lot of electrical issues and if they haven't been addressed by LR themselves under warranty or privately you could buy a right old money pit.

Only buy one that has a full service history and receipts. Ask the previous owners about any major work carried out on it. What was wrong and has the problem been fixed?

Ensure you check major expensive gizmos work: sat nav, air suspension, air con, engine.

If you're thinking of buying it don't be afraid to ask if you can take it to LR or an independent garage and put it on a test book. Better spend £100 odd now and get it home only to find it has a number of major issues.
