Range Rover electrics not working

Hi - I have a 'P' reg 4.0 Range Rover, and there is a fault (or two) in the electrice causing loads of things not to work. I don't know if there could be any connection between the problems, and I have checked the fuse box beside the driver's seat, and also under the bonnet on the offside, but all fuses are OK. If anyone could help, advise or point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.
The following things don't work :-

1/ No function at all of anything on the dash. - Fuel guage, speedo, tacho, warning lights, tell-tales etc. etc. The only sign of life at all is the SRS light which is illuminated.
2/ No lights at all on the nearside of the car. The offside lights work, except the brake lights.
3/ No brake lights.

The vehicle is quite low mileage, and in good condition, so I really would like to get it sorted. - Hope someone can help.

obviously you have checked fuses and relays? also bulbs, if a bulb had gone it would show in the lcd but if this is not working then i would suspect the terminals have corroded under the fuse box or at the becm(under drivers seat) take off each terminal uner the seat and clean with elec cleaner spray and replace. also under the fuse box in the engine bay, although this could be beyond repair. after that there is only the becm that could be damaged!

you dont say how sudden this issue began or if the car was like this when you got it?

What I have been reading this morning on the internet seems to be similar to your suggestions, but I don't know how to prove if it is the unit under the driver's seat, or the fusebox, both of which are apparently not uncommon faults. I have checked all the fuses and bulbs, but clearly there is more to this problem than something that simple !! - Do you have any idea how I can prove if the fusebox is at fault ??

the easiest way is to visually inspect it, see if there are any burn marks beneath the relays etc, also underneath it, check for corrosion on connections. this link and this link might help you a little

tou can also get the multimeter out and have a ferret about, also just thought, check the earth terminals on the body and battery, also there is some others around the car and particularly around the becm under the drivers seat! if any of these are corroded it can cause issues similar to what you have. i suspect tho that they will have been checked prior to you getting the car. nevertheless its worth looking as a diagnostic session to find the issue could take time and time in the eyes of proffesionals is lots of money!

ideally you need to find out how far power is getting from the battery and at what voltage. there are places that will repair your becm, if repair is possible, relatively cheap.

Hi - Since you had been so good as to suggest ways to help me with my problem, I thought I would report my findings. :-
1/ Removed and dismantled fusebox. - No fault found. - No signs of overheating or water ingress.
2/ Removed and dismantled the BECM unit. - Found overheated connection and melted plastic surrounding the main wire into the unit just to the rear of the fusebox section on the side of the casing. Clearly there had been poor connection causing this damage, and cleaning up the unions and supporting the connectors using clean flat washers has cured the problems !!!

The only thing I now have to sort out is the SRS light permanently illuminated. Would you know if there is any way to determine the cause without incurring the cost of a Main Dealer interrogation ?? My suspicion is the seat squab connectors, since I have had this fault in another vehicle. - If That is the problem, and I clean the connectors which would cure it, - would the light go out, or would it need to be reset ??

mine has this light also and to date i have not solved it, there are however reports and posts stating the srs light coming on after fiddling with the dash and in particular around the speedo etc assy. unfortunatly i have no idea how to fix it or if it will need resetting.

to be honest the light doesnt bother me so i have not ried too hard. if you find a cure tho please drop me a line.
