Hello folks, new to this forum and hoping to pick a few brains. I have a 1988 range rover classic v8 efi which has no blower on the heater atall. I am lead to believe it is the resistor . I initially thought it was located behind the grille found infront of the windscreen but no such luck so i am now looking at removing dash etc and looking on the motor itself. Could someone advise if im going in the right direction and which resistor i need to order in this case. Many thanks.
 
Yes. it seems everyone thats new comes here to ask about repairs. Try the correct section. This section is to post projects in. There is even one for RRs
 
There are two resistors listed, early and later depending on chassis number. 606924 and RTC5602. Both are listed on Rimmers site as "No longer available". Usually if resistor goes duff you can get full fan but no intermediates.

Thanks for all your replies,very helpful. Ive done a bit of research and it seems that British Atlantic may also make the resistors so should be able to source one from one of these options. Many thanks.

You don't as the link doesn't show that info. it was included to show possibly the position of the resistor pack. The resistor is RTC5602 for DA VIN upto GA

The genuine parts catalogue I have 1986 - 1991 I have for the 1987 3.5 owned shows for GA VIN the heater speed resistor was part of the slider speed control in the dash and then then it was MXC5705 potentiometer, no doubt it's been supeded then obsolete by now. Also can't see any relay listed either.
But as already stated when it's failed, as mine did the default is the max 'fast' speed.

OK thanks for that, I do have the Brooklands parts book for mine, its just that there are times when I can't be arsed to go and get it,so would be nice to just look something up online. (I do also use a Russie albrit site but it often falls off the bottom of my screen for some reason)
 
I only use the albeit info for the item position as I found a few part numbers that are incorrect for the uk market, so as I have the two genuine LR parts catalogues I use them, well the RRC which I don't use now and then never did, but I thought it's was a good idea to have one, and now my Disco catalogue which I have used now an again. :)
 
Hello there, i have the dash partially out and all the connections look good.there is power to the switch that adjusts the speed so i have ordered a new relay which im hoping will fix the problem . Process of elimination chap. Hopefully it will resolve the problem, if not then its got to be the motor i reckon. Cheers.
