Sorry to bother you but regarding the vin plate I'm more concerned about the chassis number punching. I'm concerned because the first 4 digits are different from the last,

No this is not mine am considering in buying and am not sure if the chassis number was punched and its nt original.

Even the vin plate usually chassis numbers are of the same font

Perhaps the plate numbers were in a similar state to those on the chassis leg. So they went over them again, so they could be made out?

P.s If you're really bothered by it, walk away.

Ah.

The thing with these is that that the chassis do rot away and the chassis number placemen over years can become illegible.

The DVLA will go on the plate affixed to the slam panel.

I looked into this extensively with my Suffix A. the chassis was like Swiss cheese at the rear and considered a chassis swap. the bodyshell was also like Swiss cheese. a triggers broom.

I ended up getting a donor chassis for the rear legs. By the time the chassis was flap wheeled back and coated any vestiges of the chassis number were illegible. not that it was very legible to start with.

You can get the chassis number restamped but that can only be done through an authorised person. To satisfy purists.

At the end of it the vehicle will be identified by the VIN plate. Nothing else.

Hi ukadamwest the problem is that I'm not sure about the vin plate as the last 4 number s are of a different font. Have you seen it I attached a pic?

Ok I get your question.

The b stamp is a different font. Yes.

I note that you are in Malta it's possible it was added post production for importation to Malta. If the history is not showing as stolen you should be good. I do recall seeing something about world region designators as different regions had different designators

The car was imported in 1985 what do you think?
It's a 1973, Suffix B, imported in 1985.

The extra stamp is a B. the importer May have been required to add the Suffix ID by the regulator.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it.. but it's your money and your call.
