Range Rover 2004 towbar electric problems

Hi can anyone please help.
When I connect my trailer to my 2004 Range Rover L322 the passenger side brake light comes on.
Is this the fault of the Towing Electrics Control Unit YWC 000840 ora short in the wireing harness VHU 000040?
Any ideas anyone?

Is it just your trailer that you've tried it with? If not, I'd try it on another known working one.

Trailer electrics can be a reet buggr when they start going wrong.

Hi,
I'v been tolled that there should be no power to the trailer until the
relevant circuit is turned on. so the trailer should be ok. I will try another board before I buy anything though.
