So I fitted a new interior light today, works a treat so that’s all good... but I did notice whilst I was doing it, there was a random black wire up there, no idea what it was for, it didn’t have a spade on at all... incidentally the lights don’t come on when the doors are open, not sure if the two are related.

On the latter problem, I assume it’s not the door switches unless they are all corroded??

See pic

Any ideas?

If the interior light you have fitted is one which can be turned on and off at the light, then this requires 3 wires. One is permanent live, one is permanent earth, and the other is switched earth. The switched earth goes to the light switch by the steering wheel, and door switches.

Yep got that, the light I put in just uses the same 3 connectors as the normal light (which didn’t work with the doors either incidentally).

But this is a 4th wire, black with no spade on the end, it wasn’t connected to anything and still isn’t...
