After finding the back box on the 90 hanging between the rear tyre and mud flap, then twisting, hack sawing and lump hammering it free, your natural inclination would be to replace it. Nope, don’t have one on the shelf and it’ll take a couple of weeks to arrive. So, what to do.....?

What else but nip up the hill behind the house and spend a couple hours sitting on the 90’s roof in glorious weather watching these guys:

The Breslau Balkan Rally boys and girls.

Considering it is day 7 of 8, these guys are way too clean. Yes that is a very steep drop, not had the courage to try it but after watching that lot today, I no longer have an excuse

And sometimes in the middle of a busy rally, you just have to stop and enjoy the view (or they were checking out the route based on puffs of dust in the distance)

PS: HWMO doesn’t know about the back box yet and no, I didn’t kill it, the pipe had rusted through.

Yeah, I've been watching it on the live timing and gps tracking .. Jim Marsden with our very own James Ayre are currently way in the lead in the extreme class .. :)

Todays camp was on the beach, apparently!! ;)

You know someone in the rally? You should have said, i’d have said hi for you. :D It was a long day today and tomorrow is generally easier as it’s the last day. They always spend the last couple of days camped on the beach. The party tonight will be huge, always is.

I chatted with a couple of guys that were doing some running repairs and they had enjoyed the week.

I was planning to nip down and see them off from the start in the morning, tell me their car number and if I see them, I’ll say hi from you.

Jim Marsden and James Ayre, it's really James I know more .. car 312, Gigglepin racing .. ;)

Yeah, Jim Marsden and James Ayre, I know James mostly .. :) Gigglepin racing, 312. Parked in the Odyssey batteries orange marquee .. pic from facebook ..

Looks like them .. would it be OK to post these pics to their facebook page? Sure they'd like to see them ... ;)

Haha, hard to miss an idiot sitting on the roof of a 90, on the top of a hill in the middle of b——y nowhere :D

They’re not wrong, could hear them coming up through the forest and could see puffs of dust in various directions depending on class. Highest point in the area. Not a bad back yard.

Popped down to watch some of the early starters and went in to meet the team.

I see they have finished so fingers crossed they have kept their position.

Yeah, they finished third today but have still won overall, provisionally .. :)

Finish line on the beach ... looks amazing from the pictures ..

Haha, it is amazing down there, that’s my local beach. It’s always fun watching sun worshipers horrified as all those mad people race past, inches from their toe nails :D

Great pics, and nice to see a 4wd event without mud. :)

You are lucky to live in a place with a box seat for the event.

It was nearly more than a box seat today. I had taken my usual shortcut between a couple of friends, was hammering done a lovely long gravel section (again, in the middle of nowhere), was just about to drop into the forest section when a Marshall stepped out. I am not sure who was more surprised :). I was going too fast to pull over so pedalled faster with the awful thought that I was about to have a rally up my tail pipe with nowhere to get out of their way :D

I pulled off the track, nearly hit those guys and just managed to get parked up when this popped out behind me:

After the last couple of days, I may enter the adventure class next year :D

If I had anywhere near an amount of spare money for a race budget I'd enter too ... I love stuff like this .. ;)
