Hi, I was watching the TV in my Range rover while waiting for someone, i then turned the car off and when i got back in later that evening there was no sound coming from anything, ive tried the radio, cd player, satnav, tv and nothing, however the screen still works and the you can watch the tv but just no sound.
I tried the fuse and the fuse hasnt blown, also the red light indicator that usually comes on with the radio was not coming on.
Can anyone help please, i just rang Landrover and they said £150 to take a look and im not spending more money as ive just forked out £1500 for the front diff problem.
Thanks

I have replaced a few amplifiers in the past because of this (it lives in the boot below the nav cd rom)

You will need to check for power to the amp and make sure all earths are good, also check for water ingress in the area where the radio/amp/nav lives as its not uncommon for water leaks in that area, any water in an ecu will kill it. Pull the plugs out (ignition/radio OFF) and have a look for signs of water damage to the connectors, they'll be corroded if there is.

i have the same problem, but i do have the power light on by the volume control:confused: any suggestions ???.

Hi

New to the forum. I have a 2003 TDV6 SE (with Satnav/TV etc) and am experiencing almost identical problem. Radio sound started becoming a bit crackly then a couple of days later, all sound was lost. Dont have radio or cd changer now but sat nav and tv still working but no sound. I looked online for advice and took out Radio and Video unit. Both have water damage to connectors. I sprayed them with silicone and dried them out but still no joy.

I am booked in to the d(st)ealer in Jan who is quoting about £900 to replace both units and put right the water leak.

How did you get on with your problem anyone know some good fixes...Can anyone fix these Radio / Video units rather than having to replace them ??

Cheers.

Re: Sat Nav & Radio Problems

Atually it is the Sat Nav computer in the back of the car that has blown, it makes the car think that it is trying to give you sat nav instructions hence muting the car stereo, if you remove the old one and gt new one of ebay for around £150 everything will work fine again, NEVER unplug of disconnect a car battery until the red light on the sat nav is turned of, normally at least 2 minutes after any activity on the car, eg opening doors etc , never jump start the car or disconnect the car battery unless you have to, dont disconnect battery for at least five mintes after opening last door bonnet etc, , the above applies to P38 with white sat nav screen and muted sound , any question email me.

same problem here, removed sat nav months ago , radio and amp all fine, went over a bump in the week no sound ! put sat nav back in , guess what , sound but only to rear and no control over volume !!! happy days

I have a simliar problem to this on a 2003 HSE... I have no sound from radio/cd/cassette/ sat nav.

none of the buttons on the left side of the radio work
Sat nav works but no sound
my steering buttons work expect for those that control the radio unit
the only round knob that works is the one on the right.. and i have none of the little red lights are on... (or whatever colour they are supposed to be!)

i can put/take out cd's out of the cd changer in the glovebox

I have power going to the sat nav computer.

None of my connectors are corroded and no signs of water anywhere!

I've upgrade to a MKIV Sat nav computer.. Sat Nav works but still no sound.
Tried a new AMP still no sound and left side buttons on radio on dash still dont work.

All sound no matter from which source it is coming from e.g. TV, radio, AUX, sat nav etc... goes through the radio unit that lives next to the TV module under the black plastic load space floor cover. The radio module has a small fuse behind its multiplug check that is ok. The radio is the one with the big black multiplug and the small black antenna cable. The TV module is the one with the blue and white multiplugs.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply.. so take it thats why the radio buttons / mode button to switch through the different sources doesn't work!? i.e the actual radio unit it the main computer that links all the devices together. I checked the fuse on it last week and it was ok.

Had this car two weeks and beginning to hate it!

Yes and no to the radio unit is the main computer the sat nav sorts all the display stuff out and onboard computer stuff and the radio module looks after all the audio side of things. If you put your loaction in your profile there maybe someone local to you that maybe able to help. If u live near Manchester I have a spare radio module you could try and see if that solves your problem. If it does they are not that expensive to get a replacement off the Internet.
