I recently bought a 1997 TDI which didn't have a stereo (the previous owner supposedly wanted to keep it).
I bought a Kenwood CD player at halfords (yeah, I know, but it was half price with free fitting).
There is a constant static type hiss from the speakers when the stereo is on, the fitter at Halfrauds tried fitting a seperate suppressor but it made no difference.
He suggested the unit was picking up interference from the Disco's built in amp. Does this sound likely or does it sound like a load of bull??!!
His suggestion was to find the amp and hard-wire around it or re-wire the fitted speakers direct to the new head unit.
Any ideas / siggestions?
Thanks
