Radiator leak - eek!

Hi.
I have just developed a leak in the rad of my '92 RRC 3.9.
Latest in a long line of hassles!!

I haven't the time to get to it just now but was wondering if I should risk trying to use something like Rad Weld as a short term fix??

Is this stuff safe to use or will I just be storing up more trouble?

Any ideas?

Personally I wouldn't. But that's because I'm ignorant and I'd be afraid it would gum up the works in the wrong places.

Agreed.....The 3.9 can have the same overheating problems as the V8's fitted in the P38's. No point in introducing another possibility for the engine to go tits up.

£100 odd quid for a radiator or another engine...no contest really.

Depends where the leak is and how bad it is. Radweld and the like can be engine killers. If the leak is not too big and you can find it, I have got away with crushing the water way and smothering it with body filler as a temporary measure. Then all you need to do is find somewhere that will re-core the rad for you but be warned, it ain't cheap but still a lot better than buying another complete rad.

How soon are you after one ? I have one from a 3.9 efi auto. Just in the middle of giving it a refurb. ie stipped both end tanks off to clean the tubes out properly not just flushed through. copper core is sound with no rotten fins. depends where you are though as they weigh a fair bit.
