Ok, this car has been with the family for 10 years, it went on through hot summers and cold winters and now...for the first time, it's about 15ºC outside and after 20minutes of driving (mostly 3rd gear) the fans started working at maximum speed . Stopped the car, let it iddle for 5-10minutes and the fans didn't slow down.

I switched the engin off, then on again and the fans stopped working again.

Has this happened to anyone? On my mom's Ford Focus the fans usually work for a few minutes after the engine is turned off, but i never saw anything like this on the freelander:alien:

temperature sender faulty

or not connected/wiring fault check the connection on the sender, also check that the cooling system is bled correctly (is your radiator hot at the top and bottom)

the page doesn't auto refresh, you have to leave and come back or press F5 :)

Could be the aircon fan, and if the "leak" is a clear liquid then it's probably from the aircon drain. The air conditioning comes on automatically when the heater controls are on screen even though the warning light is not illuminated. Try moving the heater controls off screen and see if the fan stops.

Fans can come on if the temp reading is wrong, as an emergency help thing to stop yer engine overheating as it dun't know it's temp when the temp reading is faulty.

Check yer coolant header tank has water in it. If not, then this is something to think about.
