Hi All,
Have a rattling noise in neutral on tick over with the clutch out which disappears when the clutch is depressed. So I am thinking it is either a clutch spring or input shaft bearing? If it is the input bearing can you change that during an engine out clutch change (which I have coming up)?? or must you do it from the other side ie Gearbox out??

Thanks in Advance

OK thanks James (as ever) - was hoping if it is the bearing to do it when engine is out - hope it is a clutch problem -

Just a thought, except for the rear seal, anything else you should think about while the engine is out???

Took the engine out for clutch change and clutch looked ok, as did the bearing, rear oil seal on engine was leaking but so was the main gearbox shaft. Took the cover off to change and layshaft bearing cup fell out. very very loose. I think I may have found the problem

thoughts?
