A bit of back story. I’ve just finished up changing the clutch on my defender 300tdi. Once I had all the running gear back together I filled the gearbox with oil because I had easy access. I took 2.3 litres so I guess it was completely dry. After turning over the engine and letting it idle and check that the clutch works fine i turned her off and all of a sudden oil started to **** out of the bell housing then slowest stopped after about 1 minute. So I did the normal thing and unplugged the gearbox breather pipe and let her run again but the exact same thing happened so it couldn’t be a blocked breather. So I’m guessing the gearbox input shaft seal has gone???? I’m no expect by any means but does this sound logical?
