I have a 2005 tdv8 Vogue, just got it realized the stereo is really outdated. the rest is great lol.

However I saw this comment and wanted more info if possible.

"No, unfortunately, post 2006 cars run on the MOST fibre optic system and are mainly Ford derived systems"

Sooo How do I tell if my 2005 is a BMW based system or a 2006 MOST system.

Is there an obvious way of telling, as my plan would be to buy a BMW to ISO cable converter ?

I've got to ask, whats up with the radio? mines older than yours and even has FM!
my phone goes to the radio via a bluetooth>FM converter for music/satnav etc

Do you have the touch screen like this

Yes it does, but apparently this isnt a bmw one its a ford or is it ?

I thought it was BMW as I think some have changed to the later one from an X5. Although that may be to replace a less integrated version.
IMO this is more a display than an actual headunit as most bits of the Infotainment are in the boot, especially if it's the Harmon Kardon.
From what I read you would need to rewire from the display/new headunit to the boot and replace/rewire the speakers from Harmon Kardon amp.
You would also lose other functions like 4x4 info, possibly the clock, phone, voice commands etc.
As @kermit_rr says, what's wrong with the old one?
