Having performance issues with my Defender and trying to diagnose where the problem is. One question. When I rev the engine with the car not moving, should the turbo actuator move, or does this only move when there is load on the engine??

Cheers

Thanks James. Mine dont. Have had the turbo checked out which is fine. What else can stop the actuator moving?? I got almost zero boost. Have checked every pipe including the vacuum pipe from the pump and they are all fine.

No mate 300. The rod is free and moves back and for no problems. Still not doing anything when the landy is running though.

same applies, have you a split in an intercooler hose ,blocked air filter or pipe on that side ,it should provide enough boost to open wastegate stood if revved enough

Have checked all pipes for splits and all seem fine. Air filter and diesel filter is new. Lift pump seems to be doing everything it should do. Im stumped!!!

does wastegate open by hand or by using air line carefully in pipe to actuator diaphragm, does top intercooler pipe swell when you hold it and rev engine

I can open the wastegate using a pair of long nose pliers (can not get my hand in there). The top pipe if squeezed and then revved expands inside my hand so i'm pretty sure there is no leaks in that.
