quick question (hopefully!) - changing the fuel filter

Going to change my fuel filter - where the manual says prime the fuel system by operating the priming lever - how exactly is that done? Just by opening the throttle by hand, will that do it? I guess this is to refill the filter?

On the side offside of the engine block is a lift pump with a lever attached. Pump the lever for a minute or so that'll do it.

can't help yer then My 93disco had a lever on the side of the lift pump. Maybe they changed em or summat?????

So's mine! And once I looked at the correct item and not the one I thought was the lift pump first time, there it was!

I've never got the lever to work.
I always fill the new filter with clean doozel then screw it on. It takes a few seconds to start the first time, but I've never had a problem.

filling the new fuel filter with fresh fuel before fitting usually saves having to prime it up too.
