Hi Guys,

I know this has been asnswered before, but I can't find it using the search...

I'm about to try and take my bumper off to fit my towbar. I thought for the single electric kit, the connection went into a socket on the drivers side behind the rear lights, but the instructions for my towbar seem to show it going into the passenger side (which I thought was for the second additional caravan electrical socket).

Can anyone please confirm which side it should be going in to?

Also, I need to disconnect my lpg filler. Can I just unscrew the pipe union to the socket itself and then put it back again afterwards, or do I need some kind of sealant? I see from a previous post that there shouldn't be any leakage because of a valve on the tank but I don't want to create a leak when I'm filling it. The other option is to try and work out how to remove the filler from the bumper in one piece but that doesn't look as straightforward as I would have expected.

You're right. The standard lighting socket is on drivers side, the aux one is on the pass. side. Why do you need to remove bumper to fit towbar? mine went straight on with four bolts.

you should be able to just undo the lpg filler pipe union as the tank has a one way valve in , you may get slight a hiss of gas when you undo the pipe but this will stop, all the ones i have undone never had any problems, also dont use any sealent as these are tapered joints and dont need it , more likely to leak if you did use sealent:)

Cheers dudes.

I need to take the bumper off because I don't have the crossmember fitted which goes behind the bumper.

Ooh, I'm having fun. NOT! It's raining, I've just spent three hours trying to get one mudflap off, broken 2 screwdrivers and I STILL can't get the bleeding screws undone.

Do the mudflaps really need to come off? I've just had a good look at it and they just seem to be attached to the bumper. Why then do they need to come off? Just to give access to the side clips? If so, these can be released from underneath...

Ah well, let's see if I can undo the main bolts now.

Confused (and wet!).

Mup flaps:mad::mad::mad: had hours of pleasure with mine first time I had to get them off..... so much so I never bothered putting putting them back on. If I ever feel the need to have them again I'll certainly use stainless screws.

you can get the the bumper clips from underneath can be a bit rusted and stuck some times , on reassembly smear some grease on the slides and clips
helps to get back on and easy to take of in future
it is possible to remove with mudflaps in place just a little more awkward
only other thing to remove is a plastic liner which is attatched to the bumper and also fixed to the chassis with a pozi screw -- have fun:)

Yippee! Towbar is fitted!!

Didn't need to take the mudflaps off. Got one of the liner bits off, but the other one was attached to the mudflaps and hence the bumper (as it is supposed to be) so I just left that on and the bumper came off fine.

I'll have to try and fix the ripple in it tomorrow (got some very strong glue!) and refit it as we're going out tonight, but a good days work methinks!

Cheers everyone.

how do you actually undo the clips ??? couldnt get mine to move

Well I sprayed mine with wd40 earlier in the week and they seemed to move ok today. They are one bit of wire and you need to unclip both ends. They should then rotate back (with a bit of fiddling!)

I used my socket extension and a hammer to then knock the block out of the bracket (you need to have pushed the clip back far enough so that the block can slide).

On a steam train drinking ale now!
