I have just been give my landy by the wife. It is a blue 1969 109 on a g plate with a full tilt. There are a number of things that seem posibly wrong, like the series 3 intruments in front of the steering wheel but I would love to hear if someone else has an ex navy machine to see what mine should look like.

The engine sounds sweet and it apparently had a new chassis a few years a go which seems true as it is very tidy underneath, with the exception of the fuel tank which needs replacement, some questions however.

1 Is the zenith carb generally to be a good unit. Are overhaul kits available for them
2 How hard is to find and over drive unit for one and would you all agree that with this engine option it would be a good thing to do.

Look forward to excahnging thought with you all.

Thanks

how'do

Zenith's are better than solex's, but it'd be more worth it to buy a new weber carb, much better performance and slight improvment on mpg.

Overdrives are easy to find, on EBAY, but for the cost, is it worth it? might not be as the units might be knackered, its upto you if you want ANOTHER leaver and something to oil and stuff. but, look at ashcroft transmissions, they do a mod for the transfer box that changes the ratios on the transfer box/high gear side. litttle more than overdrives (by about 100-200 quid) but i wuda thought there better, plus they dont affect the low range ratios so you get the low grunt still.
