hi guys!

been having a few probs when connecting Nanocom to car recently. some days it will connect and read ECU, some days it wont. looked at the OBD lead under dash and no signs of corrosion or anything untoward.

is it worth removing the plug OFF the ECU and giving that a spray of contact fluid?

now IF i do, will i run into any problems when putting the plug back on, or is there nothing to worry about?

well, i dont think i do, but i cant get in to see any settings via ECU. cant turn lights on and off, check things like that. just says "failure to communicate with ECU"
Yes, but which ECU? Engine, SRS, EAS, Becm? they all use different pins on the OBD connector. for some you need the ignition off, for others on.

More likely to be where you plug in your device, if the others were not working you would know about it

checked all the pins. all clean, all pin tests on Nano come back as good and test ok.

i managed to re-set the SRS fault i had. i can adjust the EAS, cant communicate with engine data, well it did 2 days ago, but not today.

i'll plug it in and go through each setting to see what it fails on :)

I haven't got or read all through the Manuels yet bug arnt there certain cycles you must do through the ignition for certain things .

thats the problem. the other day i could get real time values and data from the engine. today i couldnt, would not communicate :)
Have you unplugged the nanocom while it was active ie trying to communicate? If you have it's possible you have scrambled the software in the Nanocom. It happens with Faultmate, not sure if it can happen with the Nanocom. For safety, they should never be unplugged until the device is at rest, preferably back at the home page display.
