On my 1973 S3 I do not have a vent on the wing for the heater and wondered if this is correct?
I thought an S3 should have this,I have only had it a week and just noticed it.
I thought it changed from the S2a onwards or am I wrong?
It does have a blower motor and heater both not working.Perhaps the wing has been changed.
Any advice be great please.

Yours should have the round vent in the nearside wing.Where is the fan/heater unit ? 2a had them in the cab [ if fittted ] 3 on top of n/s footwell.

Thank you, my heater is on the n/s footwell with the blower fan next to it on the inner wing, got underneath and cannot see a pipe to the outside, the inner wing is in the way...all a bit odd!

The hole in the side of wing does not give a good air flow when moving so why not duct it from the front.
Nickjaxe has this mod fitted which uses wing and front but you could simplfy and just get air from front at side of radiator.

Thank you thats clever,I have a 200TDI engine fitted and not sure if I have the space to get that in, but will measure up.I did crawl over it a bit tonight and the inlet on the blower is just open to the gap between inner and outer wing, with this setup from Nickjaxe the air goes direct to the heater I assume? and not in to the fan then out again to the heater.I hope I have it right's to how it works.

looks to me that one pipe feeds ram air from the rad area but the fan can also be used feeding air via the Y junction in the air pipe. Fan unit has been removed from the side of the heater box turned so it now blows to the Yjoint.

If there is no hole just buy the correct sized hole saw for a drill, measure the position carefully and drill a vent hole. I did this on a replacement wing I got for mine. Very straight forward to do as the aluminium is soft and easy to cut out with a hole saw. You then just need some screw clips and and the cover.
