Query about revs

Hi guys been ironing out problems with my garageman after buying a 98 2.5dse. He's been great and not charged for any problem I've been back to him with.
Mainly I've been having problems with overheating. But after finding leaking o rings it seems to be sorted.
I am wondering what the factory setting for idle revs are. Mine idles at 900 which sounds a bit high but the garageman said alot of them do that and it's fine, can anyone advise otherwise?

750 + or - 50. Does it have a hot start fitted?

The hot start increases fueling by telling ECU the engine is cold to help hot starting. It is supposed to be fitted with a relay and timer to switch it off after 30 seconds or so. If you have one without the timer or the timer has failed the increase in fuel will make tickover higher than it should be.
