I know it sound trivial...

But I keep getting a fault on the dash telling me that the PX side reverse lamp is not working. And it doesn't.

I've replaced the bulb, swapped it over with the one on the Drivers side (which works) and even switched the bulb cradle over... still nothing.

I did think fuse, but the other side works and this is the ONLY bulb on the car (other than the back light rotor switch on the dash) that doesn't work.

I read somewhere that this is controlled by the BC unit??? hope not! any ideas or similar tings?

They are controlled by the BeCM - as are most things. As a last ditch effort, check the earth by attaching a known good earth (the best being your battery -ve terminal) to the bulb holder. Do you have a multimeter? Test for 12V between the centre pin contact and again a known good earth (not on the tailgate). I always use a made up test lead with croc clips either end and always use the battery -ve. That way you're sure of what you're measuring to etc. Takes away any doubt.

Sorry - I'm a bit dense when it comes to electrics...

Take out the unit and connect one meter lead to the Bat NEG and other to the Bulb holder? I'm expecting to see 12V?? Sorry for being so stupid....

You need to make sure you're getting a good earth to the bulb holder. The easiest and surest method is to attach a wire to your battery -ve (or any bare metal around that area such as the lifting ring on the engine etc) and then touch this to the bulb holder and see if the lamp works. Also measure from the centre pin contact to the same bit of wire and see if you get 12V.
You say you've changed the light fitting over to the other side? If you have, that would rend to discount that part. Just make sure the centre contact of the fitting and bulb are not corroded.
Another way to test is just to take a wire between the bulb holders of both lights. If one is working, that shows it has a good earth and that should then earth the other. If it still doesn't work, it looks most likely to be the BeCM output but you'll need to double check with a multimeter first.

Derek... thank you... through your suggestions I took a much closer look at the connector itself..and Doh! No idea why I didn't notice it earlier.. but part of the green connector is missing as per the pic.

Notice the missing and corroded connector.

That's me on ebay or scrappy tm trying to hunt one of the green connectors down then. We'll find out if that was the culprit once fixed.
