Puma Aircon Leak?

Hi, l’ve just bought a 2013 2.2 Puma with aircon which doesn’t work.
I’ve taken it to Halfords as they offer a diagnostic service that checks for leaks. Basically they pressurise the system with nitrogen and check for leaks using soapy water. They’ve done this and checked all the external items, pipe work etc but couldn’t find any leaks.
The reckon that it could be an internal leak. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If it holds a vacuum and no obvious leaks then they can regas it.
Was there any gas in it?
Son's Disco2 was the same, gassed up and its ice cold with no leaks.

Find a dedicated forum and ask, someone will know or had the same issue, must be thousands of Pumas out there.

No, it doesn’t hold any gas, there is definitely a leak on it but it’s not obvious, Halfords recon it’s leaking internally but they cannot find it.

Maybe the evaporator is leaking.

l was thinking that, but where is the evaporator ?

Behind the dash in the heater box I should imagine.

Attachments show where the components are. Note this is for a left hand drive so some parts are on the "wrong" side

Evaps are a pita to change on any car.

Edit I just checked to see what a ford puma looks like, and up until now I did not realise we had any hairdressers on the forum!

Hi an update, after taking it to an air-con specialist and searching for two hours we finally found a leak on the low pressure filling port, (sorry l don’t know the correct word for this). The systems has good pressure and doesn’t look to be leaking, but l have to monitor it. After driving home with nice cold icy are l noticed that the fan in front of the condenser assembly (radiator) does seem to come on. Should this come on when the air-con is switched on or it thermostatically controlled?

The only reference I can find is in the Haynes manual which says the electric fan is controlled by the engine management system powertrain control module according to air conditioning system demand. (the engine cooling fan is a viscous coupling type driven by the auxiliary drive belt). I will have a look at the wiring diagrams this evening and see if that gives any more clues.

If its anything like the D2 the front fan only comes on when ambient temp is over a certain amount, sorry don't know what the actual temp is.
Also they have a habit of seizing up due to where they are and lack of use.
