My tdi pulls over to the left. The outside of the tyre is begining to weardown. I have been to a number of tyre outlets and asked about tracking.
They tell me that disco's cant be aligned because they are 4wd. Am i been told bull****? Does anyone know where i can get the tracking done in the Stoke/north staffs area.
Thanks Mick:confused:

They can be aligned. Its bull****. They just don't like doing them. If the wear is only on one tyre I would suspect something other than tracking. Poor tracking usually wears both tyres.

Thanks for your reply.
Suspension has been checked, bushes not worn, brake callipers replaced , told that brakes could be binding but still not cured problem.
Will look for someone who can check wheel alignment on 4x4
Thanks

Hi Mick, this is just a suggestion but when I had wear on one front tyre only, it turned out to be a collapsed  swivel bearing, that affected the position of the wheel.

To test for this, jack up the relevant wheel, get hold of the tyre at 6 o'clock & 12 o'clock and see if there is any play, then get someone to apply the footbrake and try again. If the play remains, it's a worn swivel bearing.

Hope that helps,

Cheers
Dave

I was told a similar story by a local independant tyre place, they said you have to take it to a land rover dealership garage and they charged 50 quid plus VAT to reset the tracking

Micheldever tyres track Landies - at least they did my series;). are the tyres exactly the same make and manufacturer across the axle - sometimes its worth swappin tyres across the axle to se it it then pulls to the right.
