If I remember correctly if you were riding one with a car license you had to have L plates and no passenger. I stand to be corrected.

I had a Lambreter LD150. I think I pushed it further than I rode it. Cables kept breaking, Kick starter kept falling off. I remember going over a biggish bump in the road and I ended up airborne leaving the seat completely whilst my scooter carried on down the road. Both engine covers came off leaving me sat on my backside in the middle of the road with a engine cover either side of me. I used to have to bump start it. By the time the frecking thing started it would have ran further pushing it than I would have had if I just walked to where I was going.

Maybe, step father had one, he only had a car licence, i borrowed it from time to time. Don't remember any L plates, but it's a long time ago and i had both licences. Back in the days when your insurance certificate just said "Any vehicle" or "Any driver" . Carrying a passenger was not an option on that thing. 32 cc of raw power and a single seat. Mate had a Zundapp Bella, went like shit off a shovel by comparison. Could possibly manage 60 MPH down a long hill. The old mans was a Moped the mates was a Scooter. See what i did there. At the time i had a DBD34 Gold Star. Do i wish i still had that.

The one I had was a bit of a pig too every so often the back wheel would lock up for about 5 seconds so I sold it to my mate it did it to him but he lost it and fell off he was wearing my Parker at the time it looked like some one hare put it through a garden shredder

I'm new here but I'm a frequent motorway user if I'm looking for a steady cruise I set my cruise control at 58 and just slot in nicely with the trucks none pass me and I don't catch any ( providing the roads not congested ) as almost every vehicle iv owned the speedo reads 2 mph slower sometimes more than the speed I'm doing

No issue with people who slot in with the other traffic. Whether thats 56mph in with the trucks (if i'm in the speed limited minibus i often drive slightly below the limiter speed if i'm not in a hurry and sit in with the trucks rather than constantly moving out into the middle lane and annoying people by driving 4mph faster than the trucks)
In my own car, a D3, i tend to set cruise control to about 77. I haven't compared this to a GPS speed, but at that speed i seem to be pretty much "average" in traffic, and the D3 cruises really nicely at that speed.

I used to drive trucks and in my time came across allsorts police pulling you for going slow as they thought you were tired which meant then you were flat to the mat to make up for a half hour check and your boss asking what you did to get pulled was one of them as I'm sure you will have come across in your bus driving. Fair play 50 when I was driving was not that slow as motorways were still quick and you were passed by everything, but now with the amount of traffic 50 in the inside lane causes congestion as some trucks are limited to 53 so coming upon someone doing 45 to 50 in traffic is a big issue also they leave passing you very late cos they cant get out to pass even when they are indicating drivers still stick with the middle lane.
if I'm traveling with my caravan I go in the middle of the night I can sit at 50 and reach my destination before the traffic builds up. I suppose the main point I'm trying to make is on 3 or 4 lanes if someone limited to 53 comes to someone sitting at 50 or less it screws them unless the users of the middle lane pull over to the outside lane which for some god forsaken reason they will not do, so better motorway driving skills need to be practised as iv met people who believe that lane one is 50 mph lane 2 is 60 mph lane 3 is 70 mph apologies for my speech.

ohhh damn pulled over for going too slow that really sucks. they must be real strick on a lot of things there.
some highways i have driven on has 100km/h- 60mph speed limit and i only sit on 75km/h or close to 45mph and police always go past me and just think im a truck and just never pull me over.
run clearance lights on the cab of your defender or series and the traffic guys and or police think you are a truck and never bother you. but if i were driving a car then they'd pull me over..

I drove trucks all my working life and didn't have a problem overtaking slower vehicles, maybe it' cruise control that' the problem. Truckers don't have a problem overtaking other trucks that are a little slower but bully smaller vehicles that get in the way. Negotiating other traffic and lane changing is called driving so maybe truckers should practice driving once in a while, it might relieve the boredom

Yes its obviously very inconvenient for some drivers when others have the cheek to be on the same road.
