Puddles of derv!!

After filling my Td5 yesterday using my 10p off a litre savings and so squeezing 83 litres into the fuel tank I later found the rear door, spare etc covered in derv which seemed to be coming from the top of the fuel tank and covering everything rear of that including a trail anywhere I stopped.
After fearing it was gonna be a tank out job after travelling to work this morning it seems to have stopped leaking!!!
Any ideas out there???just to much fuel or a suspect gasket maybe!!!

if you push carpet forward you can unscrew the access plate for pump sender unit, securing ring may need tightening or seal refitting, unit locates with a tab and notch on rhs you need to ensure its located if you undo the securing nut, unit is spring loaded so you need to hold down firmly whilst screwing ring on

quite common ,but it would leak all the time and not appear top stop as fuel level reduced

Ok cheers for that,think I'll keep a eye on it and not fill to brim again!!!

Not very familiar with landrovers yet, does the tank have a breather for filling? If so could this have split?
