Hi Folks,

So I bought a Hardy Spicer Propshaft from Brookwell and it arrived in a britpart bag and the cups were smaller than expected. The UJs have HSL on them so maybe they are Spicer. I don't know. When I've replaced UJs before they've had GKN on them and looked more solid.

I've had to fit it anyway as need the car.

Did I get a Hardy Spicer or was I burned? What do you think? :D

Briotpart's just a wholesaler, whose 'own brand' stuff can be a bit ropey, but they shift a lot of other brand stuff (including genuine Land Rover) too. I bought a Hardy Spicer branded propshaft not too long ago that looked pretty much identical to yours and had HSL embossed in various places. So you've probably got what you ordered. If I were you I'd shove that seal on the splines back onto the outer part of the propshaft to stop the dirt getting in!

isnt hardy spicer just like borg & beck and berghaus now.....

a name sold to the highest bidder to stamp on any old ****e from china.... .

or am i getting confused with another company.

I phoned Brookwell today and sure enough HSL on the UJs does stand for Hardy Spicer Limited. I cant help thinking they look lower spec/quality than the ones ive bought as replacements in the past. I guess ill see how long they last.

Brookwells have always provided superb service however. Im just a bit confused by this prop supplier banter!
