I just came across this thread and have to agree with Mad Hat man.
1. Listen to Nodge, re-read what he said cause he knows these cars better than anyone.
2. The VCU WILL wreck cheapo diff mounts if over stiff, I have personal experience of this.
3. The VCU if over stiff will wreck every other part of the drive train if not sorted leaving your car effectively a right off (Grumpy has personal experience of this).
4. Checking it and sorting it should be your priority as your car is on borrowed time right now.

No need to re read, I took on his advice and thanked him for it. The vcu seems all ok as long as I did the tests correctly! Def no issue with what Nodge or Grumpy said. The only issue was Mad Hat Man wrongly assumed my post related to an earlier post which it didn't, that was all, not a lot to it really.
