Hi guys

Been busy under the Landy this week end!

I have just replaced the UJ's on the rear prop shaft of my 110 Defender. All was going well until putting back the prop shaft onto the transfer box studs that come through the hand brake drum I fine one stud rotates and consequently I can't tighten it up.
I have taken off the hand brake drum but the studs seem to be fixed by retaining ring behind the flange.

Can anyone please advise what I have to do to fix this problem?? I think I may have been lucky to get it undone in the first place!!

Cheers Paul

Either get an open ended spanner on the bolt head between the large circlip and the back of the flange. Or you could take the drive flange out from the transfer box (You will need to drain and refil with ep80 or 90). and take the circlip off and replace the propshaft bolt for a new one. Jai

Thanks for that Jai, will have another look - not sure what this circlip is but looks like I will have to remove the flange to put in a new bolt.

Paul

What you called the retaining ring is a mahussive circlip that stops the bolts being pushed in too far. If you remove this when the flange is off then you can push the bolt out and replace it. then replace the circlip and refit. Jai
