Had my TD4 commercial serviced as a homer yesterday and the guy doing it noticed that there was a split on the front prop bearing. Its not all the way through yet, maybe 60%. Rear ones seems OK though.

Are these OK to buy from a non LR source as I know the LR ones are £60+ each? Im assuming best to change as a pair?

He is going to do them and front pads (still on originals at 36k) in 4 weeks or so, will the bearing be OK for that length of time?

At request of some of our customers, we have fitted non-genuine ones in the past and never had a problem with them before.
Obviously I can't talk for the whole population, but you would probably be better off getting a pair of non-genuine bearings for around 40 quid than to spend 120+vat or whatever they are after Land Rover's latest price rise.

As for the wearing... They should *ideally* be changed ASAP, but they might make it the 4 weeks. It all depends on how you drive I suppose ;)

Thanks for that, just waiting for prices now. I was only holding back so the pads can be done at the same time and they have 3-5k still left on them which I may cover in a month.
