And he is in Scottyland too!

Hey up Stan, I did catch this thread the other day when I was was having a cuppa but
ive been side tracked with making plans for our wood shop.
Got some wood machinery porn pics for those who like timber.
The op is safe cause im not bidding. :D

LOL.. I gotto admit I nearly had second thoughts but you cant be a pussy all your life .. Im used to the Hot rod stuff and wouldn't hesitate to buy hot rod related things , paid more for a rusty 1927 model T body a few months ago .. but I know that stuff . Being my first leap into Landy's I got the wind up a bit .. Should stop reading about them . Fella called to let me know that it fired up no problem and is a good engine and driver. He even asked if I decide to swap the engine out that I call him as he would be interested in buying it back for other land rovers he has .. That's either good sales talk or a decent genuine seller .. Hopefully a bit of both . It will be here on Thursday, so I guess I will find out for sure .. Deposits paid, balance on delivery.

Im not expecting it to be as good as, Imnot usually that lucky but there always a first time .. At least if its a driver I can give it a going over and list what its likely to need so I can collect the bits in readiness for starting the resto / refurbishment, then get it down the shed and parked in a corner untill its time to drag it out for the works . likely spring next year ..

Ive been pricing stuff up but its difficult to know whats going to be required without having the motor here , but picking up general prices for the servive items like brakes and steering components which I fully expect to replace , tyres , wireing , etc .. The chassis is pretty agricultural and I know its had some remedial work but nothing to dodgy or unrecoverable .

A new rear x member has been fitted but its more or less tacked on. I planned to fit a heavy duty 1/4 chassis repair to replace that . Same with the outriggers which have been tacked on but Im suspecting they will need re doing .. Kinda prepared for that ..

If the engine is as good as reported thats going to get a once over, likewise the transmission.

In anticipation of the swivels needing replaced, they might not , but a super clean ex MOD low miles front axle complete come up for sale at a price that was to good to pass up. so bought that in anticipation of any problems ..

I really dont see any big problems with the refurbishment , I think my apprehension was getting involved in another project .. Once its here and the cash is handed over I will be fine with it ..

You will find these are easy to rebuild(like all old cars)
Plenty of threads on here for builds even lwb.
Parts are easy to get for rebuild. Make a list, contact them & ask for a discount if your buying a lot from them.

welding is the toughest on an old landy you can be chasing good metal but it is there.

looking forward to a build update.
